(St. George, Vt.) shot a three-under-par round of 69 to finish the opening round tied for first to pace the Saint Francis men's golf team at the Pitt-Johnstown Bedford Springs Invitational on Monday.
>> Godbout played three-under-par on the front nine thanks to birdies on one and five and an eagle on nine. He added a birdie on 11 and finished with a season-best round of 69.
(Sewickley, Pa.) also finished the first round in the Top-9 after shooting a five-over-par 77.
FLASH MOMENTS
Hoey carded two birdies on the back nine (10 and 13) and nine pars in the first round.
Trent Meyers (Altoona, Pa.) (24th place, 82),
Hunter Jurica (Derry, Pa.) (32nd place, 85), and
Alex Carr (Somerset, Pa.) (39th place, 89) rounded out the five Red Flash team players.
Meyers had three birdies on the afternoon (eight, 15, and 16) and seven pars. The freshman finished strong with a two-under-par in his final five holes.Â
Jurica posted a birdie on hole 15 and four pars in the first round, while Carr recorded six pars in the first 18 holes.
Tanner Mona (State College, Pa.) (45th place, 94) competed individually and registered three pars on the afternoon.
Host Pitt-Johnstown leads its home event with a score of 297, seven strokes ahead of Indiana (Pa.) (304). The Red Flash is in third with a total of 313, while Bloomsburg (317), West Chester (326), American International (342), and Mount Aloysius (343) round out the competing teams.Â
