LORETTO, Pa. –
Julia Givens (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) and
Danielle Hernandez (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield), members of the Saint Francis women's lacrosse team, have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Givens ranked second on the team in caused turnovers (15), third in goals (27), third in ground balls (26), and fourth in points (35) to be named to the All-Northeast Conference second team. The sophomore had four hat tricks, four games with three ground balls, and four games with two caused turnovers this season. Givens had a career-high in goals (4) and points (5) against FDU on March 30 and a career-best two assists against Robert Morris on February 28. In her first two seasons in Loretto, Givens has 47 goals and 13 assists for 60 points with 39 ground balls, 26 draw controls, and 18 caused turnovers. Givens is majoring in marketing and holds a 3.73 grade point average,
For the second-straight season, Hernandez dished out a team-best 26 assists, the second most in program history, and added 17 goals to finish second on the team with 43 points. The senior dished out five assists against Howard in her final collegiate home game on April 23 and had four assists against Kent State on March 13. She also had four goals against three assists for seven points against CCSU on April 6. She is the second player in program history to have four contests with at least four assists and became the 12th player in program history to reach 100 points in her career against St. Bonaventure on March 5. Hernandez finished her career with 73 goals and 61 assists (third most) for 134 points (eighth most). Hernandez graduated in May with a degree in psychology and a 3.55 grade point average.
Givens and Hernandez are joined on the Female CSC Academic All-District team by field hockey players Julia Breneman (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Olivia Muffitt (Newport, Pa./Newport) and water polo players Caylah Olay (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Beach) and Emese Szucs (Budapest, Hungary).
 A student-athlete must have a 3.5 GPA and participate in 90 percent of the events or start in 66 percent of the matches to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District team. Each school can nominate six male and six female student-athletes in the at-large category from these sports: Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Crew/Rowing, Men's and Women's Fencing, Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, Men's Wrestling.
