LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's lacrosse head coach Tracy Coyne has announced that she will resign from her post to pursue another coaching opportunity.
"Although I'm certainly disappointed that Tracy will no longer lead our women's lacrosse program, I cannot thank her enough for the numerous contributions and accomplishments she brought to Saint Francis during her tenure," said Saint Francis Director of Athletics James Downer. "Through dedication and skill, Tracy brought Red Flash women's lacrosse to profound heights, setting new program marks for most overall wins in a season, the most NEC victories in a season, and for the first time in Saint Francis history, led the team to consecutive postseason berths in the NEC Tournament. Coach Coyne's efforts have done much to elevate and establish our program into a perennial contender, and I'm confident that we'll only build off Tracy's success. We certainly wish Coach Coyne the best of luck in her future endeavors."Â Â Â Â
Coyne, who is the 17th winningest head coach in NCAA history, leaves Loretto with the most overall wins (30) and Northeast Conference (NEC) wins (18) in program history. During her last two seasons, the Red Flash went 18-14 overall and 12-6 in league play and advanced to the NEC Tournament for the first two times in program history. The Red Flash registered a program-record 10 wins in 2023 and an NEC-best seven victories in 2024. During both seasons, the team posted a team-record six-game winning streak.
She coached the first two season major award winners in program history (NEC Midfielder of the Year and NEC Rookie of the Year), 13 All-NEC selections (seven first team; six second team), and three NEC All-Rookie selections. In addition, Coyne coached the second-ever player to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North-South All-Star Game and an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. The Red Flash has registered 13 players who have reached 100 points in their careers, and Coyne coached six of those milestone collectors. Her team was also active in the community and won the IWLCA Community Service Award in 2021.
