LORETTO, Pa. – Freshman forward Thero Mitchell III (Bothell, Wash./Bothell) of the Saint Francis men's soccer team has been named NEC Co-Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, and a Prime Performer, as announced in the NEC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards & Prime Performers (10/06/25).
Mitchell has been a key offensive catalyst for the Red Flash, scoring in back-to-back NEC matches to help Saint Francis open conference play with three straight victories. He now has two goals in NEC competition and three total on the 2025 season, continuing to make an immediate impact in his first collegiate campaign.
Earlier this week, Mitchell netted the game-winning goal in the Red Flash's win over Mercyhurst—marking the first home NEC goal of the season for Saint Francis. His scoring touch has been one of the most consistent in the conference, as he currently ranks third in the NEC in shots on goal, leads all freshmen in both goals (3) and points (6), and is averaging 0.60 points per game.
Saint Francis returns to action on Thursday night, traveling to Chicago to take on Chicago State at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT).
