Garcia Registers Third-Most Caused Turnovers In Saint Francis WLAX Setback At Kent State

>> Saint Francis lost 10-6 at Kent State in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Friday.
>> Brooke Lacey paced the Red Flash with two goals and an assist, while Elizabeth Mahmud (one goal, one assist) and Samantha Hewitt (two assists) also had multi-point games.
>> Elizabeth Garcia collected five caused turnovers and six ground balls. The five-caused turnovers are the third most in a single game in program history. Garcia is the eighth different player to have a handful of caused miscues in a game, the ninth time a player had five caused turnovers in team history.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
With the score tied at three coming out of the halftime break, the Golden Flashes scored the first three goals of the final 30 minutes. The Red Flash cut it to 6-5 and 7-6 before Kent State closed the game on a 3-0 run to secure the victory.
 
FLASH MOMENTS
Trailing 2-0, Lacey helped Saint Francis come back to tie the match at 2 with a tally off a Hewitt assist at 11:17, and then the junior set up Mahmud at 8:44 in the first quarter.

Christina Roncarati posted her only afternoon score at 6:18 in the second quarter to send the two teams into the break tied at three.

Lacey and Julia Givens registered back-to-back twine twinklers at 9:03 and 7:52 in the third quarter, with Givens' tally set up by Mahmud to trim the margin to 6-5.

Mak Patten posted the final Red Flash score off a Hewitt feed with 12:01 left in the fourth quarter.

NUGGETS
Lacey recorded three goals and two assists in the week to add to her team-leading goal (13) and point (15) total. The junior has scored in all five games she has played this year, with multiple points four times, multiple tallies three times, and a career-high seven goals against Duquesne on February 22. 

Mahmud has recorded four goals and three assists for seven points in her last three games. The sophomore has nine tallies and five assists for 14 points in her career.

After posting five goals and an assist in her first three matches, Hewitt has a marker and five assists in her last three tilts to register six goals and six assists for 12 points in her freshman campaign.

Chyler Espino paced the Red Flash with six draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Espino has moved into eighth place in career draw controls (95) and has moved within striking distance of the Top-10 in ground balls (81) and caused turnovers (38), needing three ground balls and eight caused turnovers to crack the Top-10 in each category.

Victoria DiRenno added four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Taylor Coughlin made nine saves and recorded five ground balls, and two caused miscues.

After playing six non-conference games, including three in the state of Ohio, Saint Francis will have a week to prepare to open Northeast Conference play.
