Alex Yong finished 23rd in the final tune-up for the Saint Francis men's golf team for the Northeast Conference Championships at the ROAR-EE Invitational on Saturday.
>> Yong posted a four-over-par first-round score of 76 and then a one-over-par round of 73 in the final 18 holes in the 36-hole continuous afternoon. The freshman posted three birdies on the first three holes, 11 pars, and four bogeys in the final round for his best round of the day. Yong had a 76 in the first round.
>> Saint Francis finished ninth as a team.
FLASH MOMENTS
Trent Meyers (40th place, 152),
Fletcher Dasso (61st place, 161),
Alexander McClain (64th place, 162), and
Ben Diskin (68th place, 176) participated in the event as part of the Red Flash team players.
Meyers shot an even par round of 72 in the final round with four birdies (seven, nine, 16, and 17), 10 pars, and four bogeys. McClain registered two birdies in the final round (one and seven), and Diskin had a birdie on three.
Lukas Cascino competed individually at the event.
St. Thomas Aquinas won the two-round event with a score of 578, two strokes ahead of Lafayette (580). Dartmouth (581), Lehigh (583), and Penn (589) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Red Flash finished ninth after carding a 314 and 310 in the two rounds for a total of 624.
