Deardorff & Charles Earn Major NEC Weekly Awards, Stump Named Prime Performer

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's volleyball's Andrew Deardorff, Kyle Charles and Brady Stump earned Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly awards for their performances versus LIU April 18-19, the conference announced on Monday.

The Red Flash picked up two 3-1 wins over the Sharks to claim their third-straight NEC Regular Season title.

Deardorff picked up his 12th prime performer, sixth First Point/NEC Player of the Week, and his first career Defensive Player of the Week after compiling 37 kills (4.63 per set), 18 digs, two service aces, and an assists combined in the eight sets. The senior began the weekend by posting a double double of 22 kills (.450 hitting percentage) and 10 digs in the first four set win on the 18th. He followed that up with 15 more slams, eight digs, and one more assist on the 19th. He achieved his 1,000th career kill in the first set of the second match.

In just seven sets, Charles claimed his 11th First Point/NEC Rookie of the Week and his ninth prime performer after recording 82 assists (11.71 per set), nine digs, eight kills, five blocks and one service ace between the two matches. The first match on the 18th saw the freshman setter dish out 48 assists to lead the Saint Francis offense to 58 kills and a .379 hitting percentage. In the second contest of the 19th, he slammed down a season-high seven kills to go along with his 34 assists.

Stump achieved his fourth prime performer of the season after registering 32 kills (4 per set), 11 digs, six aces, three blocks, and two assists in the season series. The junior tallied 17 kills, six digs, two blocks, two service aces and one assist in the first 3-1 win over LIU on the 18th. He followed it up with 15 slams, five digs, four aces, a block and a dig in the second-straight four set victory on the 19th.

Saint Francis will host FDU in the NEC Semifinals on Friday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m.
