Fletcher Dasso shot a one-under par round of 70 to sit in fifth place after the first day of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Golf Championships on Thursday.
>> Dasso posted a one-over par first nine holes with a birdie on one and nine, five pars, a bogey, and a double bogey. The freshman then registered a two-under-par on the back nine to finish with a round of 70, two strokes behind the current leader. He finished strong after a bogey on the 10 with pars on five of the next six holes with birdies on 15, 17, and 18.

FLASH MOMENTS
Alex Yong (24th place, 76/+5),
Alexander McClain (31st place, 78/+7),
Trent Meyers (44th place, 78/+7), and
Hunter Jurica (51st place, 87/+16) rounded out the five players for Saint Francis.
Yong had birdies on five, 10, and 17, eight pars, six bogeys, and a double bogey. After starting three-over par in the first two holes, he played two-over par in the final 16 holes. McClain carded 14 pars, two bogeys, and two double bogeys. Meyers posted birdies on three and 11, with six pars, seven bogeys, and three double bogeys, while Jurica registered four birdies (one, five, 10, 11), four pars, five bogeys, and five double bogeys.
Jurica and Meyers compete in their second NEC Championships, while Dasso, McClain, and Yong see their first championship action.
LIU leads the three-day event with a score of 283, two strokes ahead of Howard (285). FDU (291), Chicago State (292), Wagner (298), Le Moyne (303), Saint Francis (306), Binghamton (310), UMES (312), Mercyhurst (312), and North Carolina Central (312) round out the 11-team field.
NEXT UP FOR FLASH
The Red Flash will hit the course for the second round of the NEC Championships starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and will be paired with Chicago State and Wagner. McClain will be the first Saint Francis player to hit the course, followed by
Ben Diskin (8:40 a.m.), Dasso (8:50 a.m.), Meyers (9 a.m.), and Yong (9:10 a.m.). Diskin will make his tournament debut subbing in for Jurica.
