LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis had 104 student-athletes named to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Winter Academic Honor Roll, announced by the league on Monday. The student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll had a 3.20 grade point average or better, and 46 registered a 3.75 grade point average or better to earn NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll status.
Women's swimming had 89.6 percent of its roster named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll, with 41.3 percent selected to the NEC Commisioner's Honor Roll. Women's indoor track and field was not far behind, with 87.5 percent of its roster boasting Academic Honor Roll status and 52.5 percent of the roster named to the NEC Commisioner's Honor Roll.
By the numbers, women's indoor track and field led the fall teams with 35 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, followed by women's swimming (26), men's indoor track and field (23), men's basketball (11), and women's basketball (9). Grade-point averages used for the NEC Winter Academic Honor were through the fall 2024 semester.
The Red Flash did not have a player selected as an NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the winter. In the fall, field hockey player Dolores Zavaleta (San Juan, Argentina) and women's volleyball player Korrin Burns (Clarion, Pa.) received NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition for their sports. Saint Francis is the only NEC school to have earned an NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year every year since the award's inception in 2003-04, winning 82 honors in that span. Last year, the Red Flash had four student-athletes named Scholar Athletes.
Through the fall and winter sports, Saint Francis has 243 NEC Academic Honor Roll honors and 96 Commissioner's Honor Roll selections.
