The timing was critical, coming only five minutes after Loyola had restored a two-goal lead, and the score change energized the Red Flash for the second half.

Isreal nearly scored on a brilliant individual effort to open the second half, coming close to giving Saint Francis the equalizer.
Just ten minutes later, Diego Garciarena recorded his first career save for the Red Flash, making a remarkable stop that kept the game within one and provided the team an opportunity to rally. With 20 minutes remaining, Wernicke nearly added to the score himself, as a powerful volley forced a crucial save from the opposing goalkeeper.
