Álvaro Planas (Valladolid, Spain/Nuestra Señora del Lourdes), a 5-7 junior forward for the Saint Francis men's soccer team, has been named an NEC Prime Performer of the Week.
Planas played a decisive role in Saint Francis' 2–1 road win over Le Moyne in the NEC opener, contributing on both goals in the Red Flash comeback. He assisted on Thiago Pires' equalizer in the 56th minute before scoring the game-winner in the 77th minute — his first goal of the 2025 season.
The performance marked Planas' first three-point match of his collegiate career. The engineering major has appeared in all eight matches for the Red Flash this season, starting six, and now has one goal and two assists on the year with four total points on the season.
Saint Francis returns to Stokes Soccerplex on Thursday, Oct. 2, hosting Mercyhurst for its first home NEC match of the season. Kickoff in Loretto is set for 3 p.m.
