Red Flash Men’s Volleyball Can't Claim The Win Against Penn State

MVB 2/6 Penn State

Men's Volleyball | 2/6/2026 9:49:00 PM

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Brady Stump led with 12 kills.
>> The Red Flash has one more game against the winningest coach.
>> Saint Francis lost in three against Penn State (20-25, 17-25, 19-25).

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
After being down 6-14 in the first set, Saint Francis calls a timeout to figure out where its fire is. Penn State then creates three attacking errors to put the Red Flash within five. Cole Dorn collects a solo block to stop the Nittany Lions outside hitter from recording a kill. Brayden Kuruzovich set up middle hitter Brayden Gall for his third kill of the night. Nathan Zini, Dorn, and Gall all went up to the net to absolutely shut down Penn State's middle blocker. The early 9-0 run by the Nittany Lions was enough for them to pull ahead and take the set. The Red Flash could not catch up the rest of the match and lost 0-3.

FLASH QUOTES
"Huge congrats to Mike Pavlik on an outstanding career and congrats to the team on their victory tonight, it was well deserved. Tonight wasn't the match we were looking for on our end, and I expect us to play better tomorrow. I think Penn State's physicality changed what we were able to do on our side of the net. I'm looking forward to the battle tomorrow on our home court" said Head Coach Mike Rumbaugh.

FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash went on an early 6-4 lead with several powerful kills. Kyle Charles set up Stump for back-to-back kills. To take the lead, Zini collected a solo kill. Penn State then had an attacking error to give Saint Francis a small gap. Stump and Zini both threw in several more kills while Dorn recorded a couple of digs.

In the third set, Penn State led 23-14 until the Red Flash went on a 4-0 run to close the gap. Charles, Jackson Decker, and Sam Lane collected a triple block at the net. The Nittany Lions registered another attacking error to aid the Red Flash. Charles set up Stump for another kill followed by another attacking error for Penn State to force a timeout. In one last attempt to reclaim the set, Gall and Decker collected a duo block.

FLASH NUGGETS
