JUNIOR (2009): The iron man of the Red Flash defense, Lewis broke the school’s career tackles record in the season finale against CCSU (11/21), finishing the season with 386 career tackles – and one more season to play… started all 11 games for the Red Flash, playing every game of the season for the third consecutive season; Lewis has played in every game since stepping on campus in 2007… earned his third straight All-NEC performance when he was named to the All-NEC Second-Team Defense in 2009… finished the season ranked first in active FCS players in tackles per game (12.1) and second in career total tackles with 386… continued to bear down on Kayode Mayowu’s career total tackles record for the NEC (447)… led the NEC in tackles for the third straight season, finishing with 118 total tackles… only player in the modern history of SFU football to lead the team in tackles in three consecutive seasons… recorded double-digit tackles in seven of 11 games in 2009… set a season-high with 19 tackles against Albany (10/3)… also recorded two sacks in that game against Albany (10/3)… set a season-high 2.5 tackles for loss against CCSU, in addition to his 14 tackles (11/21)… finished with 9.0 tackles for loss for a total of 21 yards… finished the season with four sacks.
SOPHOMORE (2008): Led the St. Francis defense at linebacker…Recorded a conference and team high 142 tackles, marking a new NEC and program record…named to the All-NEC?Second Team defense... Lewis had 18.5 tackles for a loss for a total of 71 yards...Five sacks for 37 yards…two interceptions returned for 20 yards…two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble…had a career high 23 tackles vs. Wagner (10/18/08)…performance against Wagner tied the national single-game high for the season and earned him NEC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors... recorded three tackles for a loss on two occasions…credited with two QB hurries... returned an interception for 15 yards at Albany (10/25/08)... made 16 stops at CCSU (11/8/08) with four TFL for a total of seven yards... had 12 solo stops at Monmouth (10/4/08)... had three TFL for 19 yards, including two sacks for a loss of 18 yards versus NEC?rival Robert Morris (11/15/08)... recorded at least one TFL?in every game... had a sack for a loss of 10 yards in the season opener vs. VMI (9/6/08)... was in the double-digits in tackles for nine of the 11 games... finished the season ranked second in the nation in tackles... also ranked ninth in tackles for loss with 18.5... led the Northeast Conference in both categories.... played the first part of the season with a hand injury.
FRESHMAN (2007): Had one of the best freshman campaigns in SFU and NEC history… named to several postseason teams… named Preseason All-NEC linebacker in 2008… honored as only freshman on 2007 Sports Network Mid-Major & Independent All-America First Team Defense… named ECAC Rookie-of-the-Year and NEC Defensive Rookie-of-the-Year… became first conference player since 2004 to be named to the all-NEC First Team Defense as a freshman… led NEC and ranked fourth in NCAA FCS with 12.6 tackles per game… tied for sixth in NEC with 1.00 TFL per game… two-time recipient of the NEC Rookie-of-the-Week award (10/15/07 and 11/12/07)… smothered 126 opponents in 2007, finishing fifth for a single-season all-time at SFU for tackles… recorded double-digit tackles in 8 of 10 games… also tallied 10 tackles-for-loss, 3 sacks, 3 pass breakups, 2 QB hurries, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble… had 8 tackles, including 3 solo, and a QB hurry in collegiate debut against Morehead State (9/8/07)… had 10 tackles, 7 solo, and 2 sacks at Robert Morris (9/15/07)… set season-high with 18 tackles, 5 solo, 1.5 TFL, a forced fumble and a QB hurry against CCSU (10/6/07)… tied season high with 18 tackles, 8 solo tackles, and 2.5 TFL against Albany (10/20/07)… had 14 tackles, 9 solo, 0.5 TFL, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in win at Wagner (11/10/07)… Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll… spring 2008 SFU Dean’s List… fall 2007 and spring 2008 SFU Academic Honor Roll… History / Secondary Education major.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at nearby Bishop McCort H.S., where he was the 2006 Johnstown Tribune-Democrat’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year under head coach Kenneth Salem… made the Tribune-Democrat’s first and second teams in 2005 and 2004, respectively… SAFCA Defensive MVP in 2005… 2006 Laurel Highlands All-Star… all-time tackles leader at Bishop McCort, and fourth all-time with 2,310 rushing yards… Lewis’ uncles Michael Terek (1953) and David Chaney (1970) graduated from Saint Francis.
