Red Flash Women’s Soccer Ties Quinnipiac In Road Contest

HAMDEN, Conn. (Oct. 13, 2007) – More than 100 minutes of action wasn't enough to determine a winner between the Quinnipiac University Bobcats and visiting Saint Francis University Red Flash women's soccer teams at Bobcat Field in Hamden, Conn. on Sunday. The Northeast Conference foes played to a scoreless tie after 90 minutes of regulation and a pair of 10-minute overtimes on a windy afternoon.

This marked the first deadlock of the campaign for the Bobcats (9-2-1, 2-0-1 in the NEC) and third tie of the season for the Red Flash (3-8-3, 0-2-2).

Quinnipiac was held scoreless for the first time since a season-opening loss to Lehigh on Aug. 31. The Bobcats have blanked seven of 12 opponents, including each of their last two.

Neither team mustered much offense as a result of stingy defense and the play of goalkeepers, Chloe Beizer (four saves) for Quinnipiac and Jessica Boyer (Pittsburgh, Pa/Mount Lebanon) (six saves) for Saint Francis. The Bobcats had two of their better chances in the second half when Kate Ahearn got her head on a back-to-back corner kicks by Susan Donovan, but one attempt was blocked and the other was caught by Boyer. Ahearn deflected another ball with her head on goal in the second OT when she redirected a free kick off the foot of Brittany Lockwood.
