AKRON, Ohio (Sept. 2, 2007) – The Saint Francis University women's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Sunday, downing the Northeastern University Huskies, 2-0, at the University of Akron Westfield Insurance Cup tournament.
The Red Flash took the lead for good just 24 minutes into the match on a breakaway goal from the left side by sophomore

The Saint Francis offense wasn't quite done though, with an impressive insurance goal coming by way junior

Sophomore goalkeeper Jess Boyer (Pittsburgh/Mount Lebanon) posted her first-career win and shutout, while making two saves behind an impressive SFU defense that allowed just six shots.
“On Friday (vs. Akron) our team was trying to get settled in with some of its playing lines and personnel,” said SFU head coach
Brenda van Stralen. “The team played a better all-around game today. We were much more relaxed and we got a good win.”
The Red Flash return to action on Wednesday when they welcome Howard for the home opener. The match will get underway at 4 p.m.
