FULL RESULTS

The Saint Francis University swimming team opened up the home portion of it 2010-11 schedule with a 115-79 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon at the Stokes Natatorium.  With the victory the Red Flash improved to 4-1 on the young season.

Though Saint Francis swimmers took first place in six of the day's 11 events, senior Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) turned in one of the day's most memorable performances by establishing a new pool record in the 400-yard individual medley.  Her time of 4:35.91 also ranks as the fourth-fastest in school history.

Yttring also swam the third leg of SFU's victorious 200-yard medley relay, which cracked SFU's top-five list at 1:50.44.  Junior Jessica Dunn (Bristow, Va./Seton School) (Bristow, Va./Seton School), freshman Elise Löfgren (Molnlycke, Sweden/Hulebacks) and sophomore Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) rounded out the squad.

Ford additionally won the 100-yard backstroke, establishing a new personal record time of 1:01.06.

Freshman Megan Collins (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) (Murrysville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) put on an impressive showing in only her second collegiate meet, swimming the second-fastest 1,000-yard freestyle time in Saint Francis annals.  Her time of 10.33.97 is second only to the 10:27.40 mark registered my current Flash sophomore Kathleen Lyon (King George, Va./King George) (King George, Va./King George).

Löfgren also swam the 1,000 free for the first time as a collegian, turning in an SFU top-10 time of 10:42.22.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Lyon took first place with a time of 1:59.45 and senior Melissa Heintz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) followed suit in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a 5:17.49.

Freshman Jenny Demjanenko (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna-Lincoln) also joined the Saint Francis all-time top-10 performances list by notching the sixth fastest 100-yard butterfly time on the books with a 1:00.03.

The Red Flash will remain at home where they'll welcome 2010 Northeast Conference runner-up Central Connecticut State and Duquesne on Saturday.  The meet will get underway at 1 p.m.
