Saint Francis Lacrosse Team Receives IWLCA Academic Honors

LORETTO, Pa (Aug. 12, 2008) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced on Sunday that Saint Francis University has earned Academic Squad Honors and also recognized three Red Flash players for their academic excellence.

To earn Academic Squad honors, teams must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Iona, Albany and Duke were named Merit Squads for having the highest GPAs.  All three institutions had a collective grade point average of 3.4 and higher.  Saint Francis stickers were not far behind with a team GPA of 3.25.  Fifty schools achieved Academic Squad honors.

Three Red Flash players earned Academic Honor Roll status for the 2008 season.  Dana Mroczkowski (Lansing, Ohio/Bridgeport), Laura Neugebauer (Elkridge, Md./Mount DeSales) and Caitlyn Espy (Moon, Pa./Moon Area) were honored for their academic achievements.  Players who earn the honor must have reached junior status and have a GPA of 3.2 or greater.  A total of 159 athletes earned the honor.
