LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2011) – The Saint Francis University swimming team snapped a two-week skid and halted a seven-meet drought against Akron by downing the Zips, 153-109, at Stokes Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Flash led from start to finish in its 2011 home opener, setting three pool records along the way.
“After our most intense week of work all season, this was a great win for this team,” said head coach Patrick Gallagher. “It is always nice to see the fast times, but to see many of the close races fall our way is a testament to the competitiveness and fight in this team.”
Junior

Jessica Dunn (Bristow, Va./Seton School),
Elise Löfgren (Molnlycke, Sweden/Hulebacks) and
Libby Francis (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy) swam the first three legs of the 400 medley relay team, which turned in a 3:57.09. In the 200 free relay, Ford joined
Libby Francis (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy),
Meghan Cotugno (Cape Coral, Fla./Cape Coral) and
Jennifer Demjanenko (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna-Lincoln) to register a 1:38.40.

Bob Krimmel in 1997.

In the fly events, Francis paced the field with a time of 2:10.87 in the 200 and a 59.32 in the 100. Dunn came out on top in the 100 backstroke (1:00.75) and Löfgren took the 200 breaststroke (2:25.04 to round out the Red Flash winners.
