Flash take five silvers in second day at Bison Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. (April 16, 2011)
– The Saint Francis University track & field teams wrapped up their second and final day at the Bucknell Bison Classic on Saturday despite rain, wind and cold at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

The Red Flash captured a handful of silver medals on the day starting with Chris Behre (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) in the 800m run. Behre was the fastest collegian in the event, finishing second to SFU assistant coach Rondell Ruff. His time of 1:52.72 was also less than a second off the iC4A qualifying mark.

Behre also ran anchor for the second-place men's 4x400m relay, joining Brian Kealey (Southhampton, PA/Archbishop Wood), Lloyd Foster (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and Nick Gibson (Canonsburg, PA /Canon McMillan ) to turn in a performance of 7:55.69.

In the 200m dash, Brittany Johnson (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) showed off her consistency by running her second 25.62 of the season to claim silver, while triple jumper Fallon Heddings (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) was the only field athlete on the podium for SFU, spanning a second-place 10.76m.

Keishana LaRose (Brooklyn, N.Y./Acorn Community) turned in the last of the day's second place finished with a jaunt of 57.86 in the 400m dash. Tynelle Taylor Chase took third in the event with a time of 58.43.

Hurdlers Mariame Conde (Darby, Pa./West Catholic / Swenson Arts & Technology) and Christy Staily (Martinsburgh, Pa./Central) took fourth and eighth place, respectively, in their events. Conde notched a time of 1:07.15 in the 400m hurdles, while Staily ran a 16.13.

Rounding out the men's top performers, Daniel Drozdowsky (Toronto, Ontario/Michael Power-St. Joseph) paced Red Flash entries in the 400m, running a 51.16.

Taking 13th pace overall, Jennifer Haffner turned in a time of 2:21.41 in the 800m run. Meanwhile in the discus throw, Kathryn Kendrick finished 11th with a distance of 40.46m.
