SFU makes quick work of Wagner to improve to 9-0 in NEC

BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2012) – Saint Francis U improved to 12-4-2 and 9-0 in the Northeast Conference after downing Wagner College, 3-0, at the Stokes Soccerplex on Friday afternoon.  Junior forward Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) scored two goals to power the Red Flash to a 15th consecutive victory over the Seahawks.

McKibben's second goal of the match was her league-leading 16th, setting a new season high for the two-time NEC Player of the Year.  Her previous high was 15, established in 2010.

The outcome wasn't in doubt for long under sunny skies in Sweet Loretto.  Senior defender Laura Stayrook (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) found Brittany Hasson (Leola, Pa./Warwick) with a long cross from the left side just 33 seconds into the match to put the Flash up, 1-0.

SFU dominated the Seahawks for most of the afternoon, racking up a 24-to-3 advantage in shots and building an 8-to-1 edge in corner kicks. If not for the outstanding play of Wagner goalkeeper Lisa Capelli – who made 10 saves on the day – the Flash could have run away with the decision.

McKibben added an insurance goal in the 11th minute and set the final score in the 58th minute.  Ellie Gavin (Hilliard, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) assisted on McKibben's first goal of the afternoon.

The Red Flash closes out the regular season on Sunday when it welcomes Quinnipiac for Senior Day.  Kickoff is set for noon.
