AKRON, Ohio (Nov. 10, 2012) – The University of Akron tripped up the visiting Saint Francis U swimming team, 186-104, in a non-conference dual meet Saturday afternoon at Ocasek Natatorium. The Zips (2-2) recorded wins in 12 of 16 events en route to the win over the Red Flash (5-3).
Senior
Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) figured into three of SFU's wins on the afternoon, including a sweep of freestyle sprints and a lead-off role on the victorious 400 free relay team. Ford took the 50-yard event with a time of 24.67 and a swim of 53.19 was enough to best the field in the 100.
Ford teamed with
Meghan Cotugno (Cape Coral, Fla./Cape Coral),
Megan Collins (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and
Jennifer Demjanenko (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna-Lincoln) to best the field in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:38.08 performance.
Earlier in the meet freshman
Haley Fournier (Ave Maria, Fla./Palmetto Ridge) and
Kathleen Lyon (King George, Va./King George) finished first and second in the 1,00 free with times of 10:25.84 and 10:41.09, respectively.
