BOX SCORE BOX SCORE

FAIRFAX, Va. (Feb. 11, 2012)
– George Mason's Caitlin Formato fired a game-high five goals to spoil head coach Gregg Gebhard's Saint Francis debut on Saturday as the Patriots bested the Red Flash, 19-9.

The offensive explosion by George Mason also overshadowed a smashing debut by Flash rookie Samantha Barton, who tallied a team-high-tying three goals.  The freshman midfielder also got off a team-best six shots.

Junior Danielle Conwell (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) also chipped in a hattrick to post a strong opening day performance.  Megan Ross (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) added a pair of scores and Catherine Helming (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) lit the lamp once to round out Saint Francis scoring.

The Patriots wasted little time in taking control of the game, scoring thrice in the first four minutes of play.  Conwell broke the shutout at the 24:10 mark, but George Mason answered with a string of four goals.

The score was 13-5 at the intermission.

The Red Flash gets back to action on Feb. 26 when its visits Binghampton for a noon match.
