FULL RESULTS
FAIRFAX, Va. (Feb. 26, 2012) – The Saint Francis University women's track and field student-athletes made their final effort to qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championships Sunday at the George Mason Last Chance Meet.
Christin Bridge (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) picked up a first-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.15-meters edging Chelsea Tavik of Salisbury by .07 meters. Bridge also earned the top spot in the shot put with a mark 14.40 besting the field by .43 meters.
Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) posted a career-best time in the 60-meter dash to claim first-place in the event. Hurd edged TaNay Chandler of George Mason by .01 seconds for the win.
Maura Jones (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) picked up a second-place finish in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:17.80 missing the top spot in the event by a little over a second. Jennifer Haffner posted a career-best time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.27 earning the junior a second-place finish in the event.
Hurd added the 200-meter title to her big Sunday with a time of 25:19, missing out a season-best time by .06 seconds.
Christy Staily (Martinsburgh, Pa./Central) earned a third-place finish the 200m with a time of 26.27.
Nicole Leach (New Enterprise, Pa./Northern Bedford) became the third SFU runner to finish in the top six of 200m with a time of 26.83 and earning a sixth-place finish. The Saint Francis 4x400-meter relay team picked up a first-place finish, Jones led off handing off to Staily, who passed to Leach, who gave to LaRose to anchor the event and crossed the line in a time of 3:53.29.
The Red Flash return to action next week as qualified athletes advance to the IC4A/ECAC Championships next week in Boston.
