Bridge and Relays Shine at the Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2012)
– The Saint Francis women's track and field team put together an solid showing at the historic Penn Relays, Thursday.  
 
Christin Bridge (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) turned heads with a second-place finish in the eastern college division of the shot put with a mark of 15.23-meter (49 feet, 11.75 inches). The toss is a career long for the Red Flash senior and ranks as the top toss in the Northeast Conference this season by nearly a meter, the mark is also the second longest in SFU history. The heave also stands as the 28th-best toss in the NCAA East Region this season. Bridge also picked up a 17th overall finish in the college division of the discus throw with a toss of 42.35-meter (138 feet, 11 inches).
 
The Red Flash posted a 51st-place finish overall in a field of 84 with the team of Nicole Leach (New Enterprise, Pa./Northern Bedford), Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll), Christy Staily (Martinsburgh, Pa./Central) and Maura Jones (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) posting a time of 48.82 just .57 seconds off the team's season-best time recorded less than a week ago at the Army Invitational. Saint Francis picked up a season-best time in the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Jones, Staily, Hurd and Leach recording a time of 3:53.20. The time ranks as the third fastest mark in the Northeast Conference this season.
