Zips Surpass Red Flash, 188-95

AKRON, Ohio – (Nov. 9, 2013) Mary-Margaret Folz led the way for the Red Flash at the Akron dual meet despite falling to Akron, 188-95. Folz earned the win for Saint Francis in the 1650-yard freestyle besting her performance from last week by 10 seconds. Today marks the second time Folz has broke the 18-minute mark in the 1650-yard freestyle finishing 17:53.74.

Danyel Johnson (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) finished the 50 free in third place, while Jessica Reilly (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Upper St. Clair) and Folz came in just behind in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in season best times.

Libby Francis (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy) finished second in the 200-yard fly claiming four points for SFU. Freshman Phoebe Pierre (Valencia, Pa./Mars) set a personal record, 19:34.82, in the 1650-yard freestyle.

Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) marked a second place finish in the 100-yard free, setting a personal best of, 53.44. She also partook in the 100-yard butterfly and earned a third place finish behind Francis.

Elise Lofgren had a strong performance in the 200-yard breaststroke marking a second place finish.

Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) posted season-best times in both 200-yard events and also marked her best 100-yard backstroke time on the season.

The Red Flash return to action on Nov. 22 as they travel to Cleveland for the Magnus Cup.
