Flash Knocks Off Wildcats in A10 Action

BOX SCORE DAVIDSON, N.C. (Oct. 24, 2014) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team won its second consecutive game after beating Davidson, 3-0, on Friday afternoon.

The Red Flash (12-2, 5-2) earned its fifth win in the Atlantic 10 Conference, which beat last year's record of four league wins. Saint Francis only allowed one Wildcats' (2-15, 1-5) shot during the game. Neither team scored in the opening period of play, SFU posted one penalty corner and two shots in the period.

Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) scored the first goal of the game as she put one past Davidson goalkeeper Emily Leytham at the 39 minute mark off a pass from Carissa Makea (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosehill College) on a penalty corner attempt.

Saint Francis made it 2-0 22 minutes later when Autumn Pellman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) scored her 17th goal of the season off another penalty corner pass from Makea. Pellman then notched her 18th of the year with less than two minutes to play.

Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) earned the shutout in net, her sixth of the 2014 campaign. SFU totaled 11 shots in the game, with five coming from Pellman.

Saint Francis returns to the field on Sunday in non-conference action when it takes on Appalachian State at 1 p.m.
