Red Flash Place Fourth At NEC Indoor Championships; Johnson Wins 200 Meter, Cotman Wins 400 Meter

LANDOVER, Md. (Feb. 9, 2014) – The Red Flash women's track and field team finished fourth at the Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday afternoon. Saint Francis claimed 13 top ten finishes and two individual wins at the Championship.

Saint Francis scored 94 points at the Championship; the Frankies were one point shy of third place. Sacred Heart won the women's title accumulating 136 points.

Senior Brittany Johnson (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) won the 200-meter dash with a 24.99 performance. Johnson's time qualified her for the ECAC championship. Fellow teammate Paris Cotman (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) finished one spot behind Johnson with a 25.20 showing. Johnson and Cotman posted top five SFU times in the 200-meter sprint.

Johnson earned another ECAC qualifying time in the 60-meter sprint with a 7.63 showing. Johnson finished second place claiming the silver medal. Johnson's time tied the Saint Francis Indoor 60-meter dash all-time mark.

Cotman continued to shine at the Championship meet as she won the 400-meter dash in 57.37 fashion. Freshman Keishawnna Burts (Akron, Ohio/North) finished four places behind Cotman in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 59.52.

Jasmine Campbell (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) competed in two events claiming two-sliver medal finishes. The sophomore marked her first second place finish in the triple jump clearing 11.36-meters. Campbell cleared 5.34-meters in the long jump to finish the day.

Red Flash middle distance runner Feleisha Wright (Philadelphia, Pa./Jules Mastbaum) placed fourth in the 800-meter dash with a 2:20.12 finish.

Kylie Jackson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) notched two top five finishes for the Red and White. Jackson posted a 10:00.97 in the 3000-meter run placing fourth in the field. Jackson set a new SFU record at the Championship meet in the 3000-meter run. Jackson completed the day in the 5000-meter run as she notched a fifth place showing with a 17:42.02 performance. Jackson scored points for the Flash in both events.

The Saint Francis 4x400-meter relay team finished second running a 3:56.37.

The Red Flash had three athletes finish in the top ten in the weight throw. Ivona Mikulic (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) placed third in the event earning the bronze medal with a 15.35-meter throw. Emma O'Hara (Abingdon, England/Larkmead School) and Jordan Collins (Bayport, N.Y./Bluepoint) placed fourth and sixth, respectively. O'Hara marked a 15.01-meter throw while Collins tossed the weight 14.71-meters.

Saint Francis returns to action Feb. 22 at the Kent State Tune-Up.
