Track & Field Set To Host Red Flash Open

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis track & field will host the Red Flash Open at the Father Bede Track and throws field Saturday, April 26. The field events will begin at 11:00 a.m., and the track events will start at 12:00 p.m.

>> At 10:05, 15 seniors will be honored in a senior day ceremony prior to the start of the meet. All the seniors that will be recognized are Baylee Carpenter, Jaelyn Cole, Toby Cree, Shane Curran, Ava Dzurenda, Emma Fleck, John Flynn Jr., Seamus Girdusky, Tesslyn Helms, Naomi Hillen, Haiden Litwinovich, Julian Saunders, Carly Sedun, Ethan Shuagis, and Josilyn Wehner.

>> The Red Flash will be competing against the following colleges: Bucknell, Duquesne, Mount St. Mary's, Penn State Behrend, Robert Morris (women), and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis last competed at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell April 12-13. Against more than 160 collegiate clubs and programs, the teams combined for six top-8 finishes.

Clark Gulycz earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Co-Field and Rookie of the Week after finishing seventh in shot put with a mark of 16.67m. The freshman made it onto the prime performer list as well for his NEC-best toss.

Saunders, Sedun, Tyler Craft, and Anna Quackenbush nabbed prime performers for their performances.

Saunders took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.28. The senior holds the two best times in the conference so far during the outdoor season.

Craft placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.17m.

Sedun claimed a 13th place finish in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 49.46m. The senior has the top-3 finishes in the event across the conference.

Quackenbush's time of 37:06.66 in the women's 10,000-meter run is the second-best time in the NEC. The sophomore finished 26th overall in the event.

RED FLASH AT RED FLASH OPEN HISTORY
The Red Flash Open is the annual home meet that the Red Flash has hosted as far back as the 2006-07 outdoor campaign. The only year when it didn't take place was in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the 2024 meet, the teams combined for 13 event victories and 46 top-5 performances.
