College Sports Communicators announced the Academic All-District team for track and field and Saint Francis had three men and three women, including three athletes from the local area, on the list.
Dylan Andrews (Altoona, Pa.),
Ethan Shuagis (Ebensburg, Pa.),
Ethan Stroup (Altoona, Pa.),
Tesslyn Helms (Pittsburgh, Pa.),
Anna Quackenbush (Mount Airy, Md.) and
Saige Wilt (Middletown, Pa.) all received the distinction. Stroup and Helms both made the team for the second consecutive year.
To be eligible, an athlete must be at least a sophomore, boast a 3.50 grade-point average, and register for a Top-50 performance in the region in cross country, the indoor or outdoor track and field seasons.
Andrews has a 3.85 grade-point average in accounting. The rising junior ranked 31st in the region in the pole vault with a distance of 4.56m at the Liberty Open on February 7.
Shuagis graduated in May with a 3.72 grade-point average and a business analytics major. He ranked 50th in the 10,000m with a time of 34.54.08 thanks to his time at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 5.
Stroup, who holds a 3.92 grade-point average in interdisciplinary health care studies, ranked 30th in the javelin with a distance of 55.27m and the Jim Taylor Duals on March 28.
Helms graduated in May with a 3.91 grade-point average and a degree in early childhood education. Helms placed 44th in the region in the 5000m with a time of 17:44.89 at the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 16.
Quackenbush holds a 4.0 grade-point average in exercise physiology. The rising junior ranked 40th in the 5000m with a time of 17:32.00; in the same race, Helms reached her Top-50 mark at the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Wilt is a psychological science major with a 3.71 grade point average. Wilt ranked 47th in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m from the NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
