CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Saint Francis swimming team got off to a fast start at the NEC Championships on Wednesday night. In fact, it was record-shattering fast. The team of
Rebecca Peer (Chelsea, Quebec/Philemon Wright),
Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School),
Libby Francis (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy) and
Danyel Johnson (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) set the conference record in the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet. They finished in a time of 1:42.47, more than a full second better than the previous mark. It's also the fifth consecutive year the Flash has won this event.
Int he other event of the night, the team of
Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot),
Katrina Wilhite (Sparks, Nev./Edward C. Reed), Mary-Margaret Folz and Elise Lofgren finished fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay in a time of 7:34.90. Saint Francis is currently in second place heading into the beginning of individual events tomorrow.
