BOX SCORE QUEENS, N.Y. – The Saint Francis U women's soccer team fell short in its 2014 season opener Friday night, falling 3-0 to St. John's.

Caitlyn McLaughlin opened the scoring for St. John's in the 20th minute with an unassisted goal from the left side of the penalty spot.

Morgan Tinari added to the Red Storm's lead in the 29th minute with a header to the right post, assisted by the freshman combination of Shea Connors and Allie Moar.

St. John's would add an insurance goal in the 71st minute, when Rachel Daly received a cross from the left side, and completed the bicycle kick underneath the diving rookie goalkeeper Romina Kunze (Frankfurt, Germany/Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule).
