BOX SCORE ST. LOUIS (Sept. 26, 2014) – After a relatively low-scoring first half, a real slobber-knocker broke out in the second half when Saint Francis scored four goals and won 6-0 against Saint Louis on Friday afternoon.
The Red Flash (7-0, 2-0) field hockey team continued its undefeated season behind two-goal efforts from
Carissa Makea (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosehill College) and
Autumn Pellman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood).
Pellman scored the first goal of the game 30 minutes in off a right side pass from
Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman). Makea scored her first to give SFU the 2-0 lead off penalty corner passes from Adamshick and
Nikki Snyder (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) before the halftime break.
Adamshick broke the game wide open when she scored off a penalty corner rebound six minutes into the second half and SFU held the 3-0 advantage.
Twenty minutes later Makea scored her second of the day off a pass from
Carly Gromel (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) and the Flash took a 4-0 lead over the Billikens (1-8, 0-2).
Just 45 seconds later Pellman put in her second of the game off a deflection in front of the net.
Rachel Behne (Clifton, Va./Centerville) then scored her first career-goal at the 64-minute mark and the Flash led 6-0.
Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made one save in net, Saint Louis goalkeeper Tori Westhead made 10 saves for the Billikens. Saint Francis led in shots, 19-2 and in penalty corners, 13-1.
