BOX SCORE ST. LOUIS (Sept. 27, 2014) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team moved to 8-0 on the season after a 1-0 defeat of Missouri State on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Flash (8-0, 2-0) got its lone goal from
Selena Adamshick (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) at the 28:45 mark of the opening period and locked down on defense to post another shutout, the team's third in a row.
Adamshick scored the tally off a penalty corner one-timer from
Carissa Makea (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosehill College). Each team registered four shots in the first period.
In the second half, Saint Francis buckled down defensively and didn't allow a single shot, while only allowing one penalty corner.
Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) posted two saves in net for the Red Flash.
The Bears (2-8) goalkeeper Megan Drew notched five saves in net. Saint Francis totaled 10 shots and nine penalty corners in the contest.
Autumn Pellman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) led all players with six shots during the game.
Saint Francis will travel to Massachusetts next on Oct. 5 for a 1 p.m. match-up.
