BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2015) – The road weary Saint Francis U men's tennis team dropped decisions to Youngstown State and Lehigh by identical 6-1 marks over the weekend. The Red Flash played at YSU on Friday before bussing to 350 miles to visit the Mountain Hawks.
"We played two very strong teams this weekend," said coach
Rob Castille. "And against teams this good, the guys need to compete better and find ways to be more competitive in their matches. We definitely have the talent and ability but we need to make smarter choices (shot selection) and we must maintain a good attitude throughout the match. The team recognizes this and we will work hard this week on improving on those things. I am confident that we will be better moving forward."
Wash Gervais picked up the point for the Flash in both outings from his No. 1 singles position.
Two Flash doubles teams also picked up wins, although they didn't figure in to the team score.
Lawson Barter (Chicago, Ill./Loyola) and
Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ) won a 6-2 decision at No. 3 doubles on Friday. In Sunday's action,
Sergio Carvajal (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/U.E. Fray Elias Maria Sendra) and
