MONROEVILLE, Pa. (April 3, 2015) – The Saint Francis U men's tennis team closed out its home schedule with a battle against Dayton and fell, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.
"Dayton has always been a solid team. I haven't seen them for two years and they are even better now. I was very pleased with how the men played and competed," said SFU head coach
Rob Castille.
Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas) took home a win at No. 1 singles as he won, 6-4, 6-2. Freshman
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) earned the other win in singles at No. 3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.
The Flash won their lone doubles point as
Chris Jimenez (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory) and
Sergio Carvajal (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/U.E. Fray Elias Maria Sendra) won 8-2 at No. 2.
Except for the two lopsided matches, the men were right there with them in every match. I think we can take a lot of positives away from this. While we still have some things to work on, I am happy with how we are playing," Castille continued.
Saint Francis hits the road to close out the regular season against Morgan State and Howard next weekend.
