LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team visits Toledo this weekend for the Toledo Invitational, its final tournament of the Fall. The tournament begins on Friday, October 27 and concludes on Saturday.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, continues Fall play after a couple players competed at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Penn, last week.
This weekend, Saint Francis will compete against Detroit Mercy, Duquesne and Toledo in a hidden-dual format.
Junior
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and sophomore
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) are tied for the team lead with three wins this Fall. Bode won all three of her matches, and won her singles draw, at the Western & Southern Collegiate Invite. Gutierrez claimed three wins at the Bucknell Fall Invite and competed in the Main Draw of the ITA Northeast Regional last week.
Freshman
Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) is 1-2 this Fall, with a win coming at the Western & Southern Collegiate Invite. Junior
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) and sophomore
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) are looking for their first wins this Fall.
In doubles, Gutierrez and Tamarkin are 3-2 in tournament play, including an 8-4 win in the Doubles Main Draw at the over Colgate's Lauren Hyland and Jordan Williams. The duo also claimed two victories at the WSCI. Miller and Tamarkin paired up for a win at the Bucknell Fall Invite.
