BOX SCORE Loretto, Pa- A Billiken is a good luck charm that represents,"things as they ought to be." The Red Flash used the old reliable game plan of fortress like defense and timely goals to ensure Saint Francis remained undefeated in A-10 play, as Saint Francis ought to be. The Red Flash defeated the Billikens of Saint Louis 2-0 on a brisk Friday at DeGol Field. Saint Francis is now 2-0 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
Ceretta's Reaction
The Red Flash defense has been superb over the past few weeks. Coach Ceretta credits it to hard work saying, "We have been working on our defense and the idea that every single ball is important."
Turning Point
Kyra Castano (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin), positioned in the middle of the field, received a perfect pass from the right wing from
Taylor Nesmith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and deposited a sharp shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0 and efficaciously put the game away for the Red Flash.
Highlights
- The Red Flash, as typical in its victories, started fast as Hannah Retherford (Benton, Pa./Benton) put her stick on a reflected Brea Seabrook (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) chance and cashed in with a crackerjack shot to give Saint Francis an early lead after eight minutes of play. The Saint Louis goalkeeper, before Seabrook's shot, made a tremendous save while stretching out on the ground but it was ultimately a futile gesture.

- Just before the half, Saint Louis' Erin McClelland attempted a shot that went wide left as it glanced off the pole.
- At halftime, Saint Francis made a goalkeeper change to give Claudia Marzec (Whitinsville, Mass./Moses Brown School) some playing time.

- In the 62nd minute, Claudia Marzec (Whitinsville, Mass./Moses Brown School) made a magnificent, quick reaction deflection of a shot that bounced up above her head.
- Marzec made two consecutive saves in the 68th minute to preserve the shutout.
