Bowling Green, Ohio - The Saint Francis swimming team made its season debut Friday, with Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol), and Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) leading the way. The Red Flash fell 214.5 to 77.5 against the Bowling Green State University Falcons.

Senior Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) had a pair of wins on the day. Lafferty won the 50 Freestyle in a time of 24.31. She also won the 50 Backstroke in a pace of 26.99. Both of these times would rank in the top-ten times in school history for Saint Francis.

Sophomore Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) recorded a pair of third place finishes in her individual events for the day. In her 200 Freestyle, she swam to a third place finish in a time of 1:56.61. In the 500 Freestyle, Quon swam in a pace of 5:19.53, good for her second third place finish of the day.

Fellow sophomore, Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), also had a pair of third place finishes. O'Neill started her night off by sprinting to a third place finish in the 50 Breaststroke, in a time of 31.54. This time places her as the fifth fastest performer in school history. In her second individual race of the night, the 100 Breaststroke, she touched the wall in a time of 1:09.38.

Freshmen Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High), Jessica Rupp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), and Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) each recorded a second place finish. Rupp touched the wall in second place in the 100 Butterfly in a time of 59.94. O'Connor sprinted to the wall in the 100 Freestyle in a pace of 53.98. Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) swam side-by-side O'Neill in the 100 Breaststroke. Lawson swam to a second place finish in this event, touching in a time of 1:09.14.

The 200 Freestyle relay team of Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill), Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High), and Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) had a strong showing, placing second in a time of 1:39.43.

The Red Flash return to the pool next weekend at the Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational . The two-day invitation starts on Friday, October 6th, and concludes Saturday evening, October 7th.
