FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Saint Francis Softball team dropped a tough 4-3 decision against Arkansas on Saturday night.  Earlier in the day, SFU fell 4-0 against Tulsa.  The Red Flash is 15-15 this season.

Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had two extra base hits on Saturday.  She had a triple in the first game vs. Tulsa.  In game two, McKee's two-run homer in the sixth cut the deficit to 4-3.  It was Saint Francis' 29th homer of the season.  Seven Red Flash have at least two homers this season.

The Red Flash finishes the Wooo Pig Classic on Sunday with a matchup against Iowa State.  First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET.  The Cyclones are 17-15 this season and defeated SFU, 1-0 in eight innings, at the Kickin Chicken Classic on opening weekend.

Game 1 vs. Tulsa
Sophomore Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) got the start in the circle for the Red Flash.  She threw seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, while striking out two and walking two.  Trahan held the Hurricanes scoreless after the third inning, allowing just five batters to reach.

Senior Emily Watson started for the Hurricanes.  She fired a complete-game, allowing just one hit and striking out 15 batters.

The Red Flash had one hit in the shutout.  Junior Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) hit a fly ball triple to right in the fourth inning.

Tulsa scored four runs on seven hits.  Tori Stafford drove in three runs, with two coming on a single.  Haley Meinen also drove in a run with an RBI single.  Juli Holingsworth scored two runs, while Morgan Neal had a double and a run and Shelby Estocado had a triple and a run.

The Hurricanes plated two runs in the top of the first.  After Hollingsworth was hit by a pitch and Estocado drew a walk, Meinen hit a single up the middle to score Hollingsworth.  Stafford followed with a groundout to allow Estocado to cross the plate.

Tulsa added two runs in the top of the third.  A walk by Hollingsworth and a double by Neal setup two runners in scoring position for Stafford, who lined a single to right to score both.  Tulsa led 4-0 going to the bottom of the fourth.

The Red Flash threatened to score in the bottom of the fourth.  With one out, McKee hit a fly ball that landed in shallow right field between two Tulsa fielders.  McKee hustled to third to complete a triple.  However, two strikeouts ended the inning and stranded McKee at third.

Game 2 vs. Arkansas
Sophomore Adrian Smith (Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) started in the circle for the Red Flash.  She threw three innings, allowing four runs on five hits. She struck out one batter and walked a batter.  Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) entered in the fourth inning and retired nine of the 10 batters she faced, allowing only a hit by pitch and striking out one.

Saint Francis cut the deficit in half in the top of the third.  With one out, Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) was hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Norton hit a fly ball to the warning track, which deflected off the glove of the centerfielder, allowing McKee to score from first.

Arkansas answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. After a leadoff double by McEwen, Diaz hit a line drive over the wall in left for a two-run homer.  The Razorbacks nearly had another homer, but Jordan Frank (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) made the catch over the centerfield wall to rob it.  The Red Flash trailed 4-1 after three innings.

The Red Flash got within one run with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth.  Norton led off the inning with a single to center.  Two batters later, Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) fought through an eight-pitch at-bat, sending the final pitch into the parking lot beyond left field.  The two-run shot was McKee's third of the year and cut the deficit to 4-3.
