STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Saint Francis Softball team swept its NEC doubleheader at Wagner on Saturday. The Red Flash claimed a 6-0 victory in game one and came out on top, 2-1, in game two. Saint Francis improved to 22-17 overall and 4-0 in NEC play, while Wagner dropped to 12-21 overall and 2-7 in league play.

With its sweep, the Red Flash has now won 23 straight games against NEC opponents. That is the longest streak in Division I.

Saint Francis had five stolen bases in game one, setting a new season high. The Red Flash had a combined eight stolen bases in the doubleheader, with
Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) and
Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) each swiping two bags.

The Red Flash got two dominant pitching performances on Saturday. In game one,
Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) threw her fifth complete-game shutout this season, while striking out six and walking none. Trahan has four performances this season in which she has thrown seven or more innings and not walked a batter.

In game two,
Adrian Smith (Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) fired a complete game and struck out a career-high 11 batters. Smith struck out multiple batters in five of her seven innings and earned SFU's third double-digit strikeout performance this season.

Wagner's run in the fourth inning of game two snapped a streak of 20 scoreless innings by Red Flash pitching to start NEC play this season.

Game 1
Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) started in the circle for the Red Flash, throwing her fifth complete-game shutout of the season. Trahan allowed just six hits and struck out six without walking a batter to pick up her 16th win of the year.  Wagner reached base with more than one batter in only one inning. Trahan retired 13 of the final 15 batters she faced.

The Seahawks started Arielle Korber in the circle. The freshman went six innings, giving up six runs on nine hits, while striking out three and walking three. Ciera Luna pitched the seventh inning, allowing one hit in a scoreless frame.

Saint Francis tallied six runs on 10 hits.
Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) led the way with three hits, including a two-run double, and three RBI.Â
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) contributed two hits, including a triple, and three runs.Â
Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) added a single and two RBI, while
Kassidy Troxell (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) had an RBI single and a run. The Red Flash was active on the base paths, stealing a season-high five bases.

Wagner collected six hits. Alyssa Tucker had two hits, including a double. Hannah Lewis added two hits, while Karen Prihoda and Maite Reece each had one.

The Red Flash took a one-run lead in the top of the third.Â
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) led off the inning with a fly ball to right, which landed on the warning track for a triple. Norton followed with a soft liner to right for a single, which allowed McKee to cross the plate. SFU led 1-0 through three innings.

Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) started the inning with a walk and stole second before a single by
Taylor Hoover (Phillipsburg, Ohio/Northmont) to right-center. Troxell sent a single to right to score Seneca before a bunt single by
Jordan Frank (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) loaded the bases. Two batters later, Norton hit a fly ball to center for a sacrifice fly, scoring Troxell. Cabell lined a double to the wall in left to bring home Frank and
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) to extend SFU's lead to 5-0.

The Red Flash added a run in the sixth. After a one-out single by
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois), a groundout by Norton moved McKee to second. Cabell sent a single into center to plate McKee and give the Red Flash a 6-0 advantage.

Game 2
Adrian Smith (Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) earned her sixth win of the season with a complete-game victory in game two. She set a new career high with 11 strikeouts, including multiple strikeouts in five different innings. Smith allowed just one run on three hits and walked one. Wagner did not get a hit after the fourth inning.

Morgan Brown got the start for Wagner, throwing all seven innings. She gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits. Brown struck out 10 and walked one.

Wagner cut the deficit in half with a run in the fourth. After a leadoff single up the middle by Tucker, Reece hit a line-drive double to the gap in right-center to plate Tucker. The Red Flash led 2-1 after four innings.
