Scott competes for Polish National Team in Prague Cup

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis lacrosse junior midfielder Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) competed for the Polish National Team in the 22nd Anniversary of the Prague Cup on June 27-29.

Scott qualified for the team since at least one of her grandparents was from Poland. The squad was comprised of 15 players, 12 of which are current citizens of Poland. Scott was the second leading scorer for Poland with nine goals over three days of competition.

"Emileigh was a tremendous addition to our roster, both from a personal and skill perspective," national team head coach Jay Watts said. "She showed a great deal of character and hustle in all of our games, and she quickly developed a rapport with her teammates on the field. Her stick work and ball control in the midfield also raised the level of play of our entire team. We are very fortunate to have someone like her in our program as we look ahead to competition in the next Women's Lacrosse World Cup in 2021."

Lacrosse in Poland is still in its early stages when compared to most other countries that compete in the sport. The Polish team finished seventh out of ten teams with a tie against a travel club team from the United States and wins against the Czech U19 team and the Netherlands. Several of the teams competing featured current or former college players from the United States.

Saint Francis lacrosse head coach Kara Concheck was very excited for Scott to have the chance to represent Team Poland. It was a great opportunity for her to work on her skills as she prepares for next season with the Red Flash.

"It was an incredible experience for Emileigh to compete in the Prague Cup and represent Team Poland, as well as Saint Francis lacrosse," Concheck said. "We are proud of her accomplishments thus far and what she will continue to contribute as the dominant and humble athlete she is."
