LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis Athletics under the direction of Athletics Director
Susan Robinson Fruchtl has announced that Dr.
Tricia McFadden has been named the department's new Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).
Â
McFadden replaces Dr. Art Remillard, who was the FAR for Saint Francis for the past three seasons. During that time, Dr. Remillard served as the Northeast Conference Chairman for all Faculty Athletic Representatives.
Â
"We want to thank Dr. Remillard for his hard work and leadership during his time as FAR at Saint Francis," Robinson Fruchtl said. "His dedication to the position to not only Saint Francis but the Northeast Conference is truly appreciated."
Â
Dr. McFadden just completed her sixth year at Saint Francis where she is an assistant professor of marketing in the Shields School of Business. During that time, she has played an active role in athletics, serving as Faculty Athletics Mentor (FAM) for women's basketball since 2016 and just completed her first season as the FAM for softball. McFadden owns a Doctorate of Rhetoric from Duquesne University, a Master's in Strategic Communication from Barry University as well as a Bachelor's in Communication and English Studies from Pittsburgh. She is currently working towards her MBA at Saint Francis.
Â
"I am truly blessed and humbled by this invitation to be the next Faculty Athletics Representative of Saint Francis University," Dr. McFadden said. "I take this new role as a calling to continue the strengthening and collaborative building of the bridge between athletics and academics for the betterment of our mission, student-athletes and University."
Â
In her new role, Dr. McFadden will serve as the chair of the Athletics Advisory Board (AAB). The AAB is a University-wide committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students representing various University constituencies. Student-athletes also have representation on the AAB. The AAB has subcommittees that monitor, evaluate, and address matters concerning gender equity, minority opportunities, student-athlete welfare, sportsmanship and ethical conduct, and academic integrity.
Jaime Lipski, the Associate Director of Student-Athlete Services, oversees the Faculty Athletics Mentor program (FAMs) which works in conjunction with the FAR.
"Dr.
Tricia McFadden has always been a wonderful mentor to our student-athletes and supporter of Red Flash Athletics," said Lipski. "We are incredibly excited she has been named the next FAR and look forward to seeing her influence grow. Additionally, I believe her transition will be seamless, with sincere thanks to Dr. Art Remillard, who laid a strong foundation of unwavering support and advocacy for our student-athletes and the department as a whole."
Â
Dr. McFadden will also oversee the Academic Integrity Committee. In that role, she will deal with matters regarding student-athlete eligibility, especially in matters that deal with a student-athlete's academic ineligibility to compete.
