Swimming with NEC Championship's on the horizon

Nassau County, NY – It's that time of year again, the 2020 Northeast Conference Championships in Nassau County, NY is right around the corner, Wednesday February 19th until Saturday February 22nd.  The Red Flash will take on eight NEC competitors; defending champs Bryant, Central Connecticut State, LIU Brooklyn, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Wagner.

Swimmer's to keep an eye on: With a wide range of talent for head coach Phil Hurley, many have stepped up this season to put the Red Flash on top 8 times just this season against competitors.

Senior standout, Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) is looking to make an impact for herself in her last NEC tournament of her collegiate career. Bowman is looking to repeat as the 100 Butterfly champ come this week as well as improving one more spot for a gold in the 200 IM where last year she took silver.

Sophomore Annabelle McCullough (Mercersburg, PA./James Buchanan High School) has as well made an impact for the Red Flash this past season, coming out on top more often than not to help secure meet wins for SFU. McCullough is most certainly one to keep an eye on for improving on her two third place finishes and a fourth-place finish in last year's NEC championship.

Freshman Shauna Abair (Lantana, Fl/Home School) is one to keep an eye on after winning Rookie of the week the beginning of February when she took the first-place finish in the 1,650 free to rank among the top-20 time in the NEC for this season.

A pair of juniors, Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) and Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor) are as well two swimmer's that have stepped up recently to become ones to watch come the start of the NEC's this Wednesday.

Others to watch:
-Sophomore Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School)
-Senior Teresa Narduzzi (West Orange, N.J./West Orange)
-Senior Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn)
-Senior Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol)
-Sophomore Rebecca Pendleton (Maple Glen, PA/Upper Dublin High Schhol)

The Red Flash are ready to go and kick things off Wednesday in Nassau County, NY. All the action starts off at 6 p.m. and continues until Saturday night.
A Full recap of the meet will follow, and a live streaming of the NEC championship will be provided on NEC Front Row.
