Nassau County, NY – It's that time of year again, the 2020 Northeast Conference Championships in Nassau County, NY is right around the corner, Wednesday February 19
th until Saturday February 22
nd. The Red Flash will take on eight NEC competitors; defending champs Bryant, Central Connecticut State, LIU Brooklyn, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Wagner.
Swimmer's to keep an eye on: With a wide range of talent for head coach
Phil Hurley, many have stepped up this season to put the Red Flash on top 8 times just this season against competitors.
Senior standout,
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) is looking to make an impact for herself in her last NEC tournament of her collegiate career. Bowman is looking to repeat as the 100 Butterfly champ come this week as well as improving one more spot for a gold in the 200 IM where last year she took silver.
Sophomore
Annabelle McCullough (Mercersburg, PA./James Buchanan High School) has as well made an impact for the Red Flash this past season, coming out on top more often than not to help secure meet wins for SFU. McCullough is most certainly one to keep an eye on for improving on her two third place finishes and a fourth-place finish in last year's NEC championship.
Freshman
Shauna Abair (Lantana, Fl/Home School) is one to keep an eye on after winning Rookie of the week the beginning of February when she took the first-place finish in the 1,650 free to rank among the top-20 time in the NEC for this season.
A pair of juniors,
Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) and
Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor) are as well two swimmer's that have stepped up recently to become ones to watch come the start of the NEC's this Wednesday.
