STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Saint Francis University women's soccer game against Wagner College was postponed Thursday evening due to weather. The two squads battled for 13 minutes before rain and lighting came into the area to stop play, and the game could not restart due to the consistent inclement weather. The scheduled makeup date will be for Thursday, October 28 but the time of the match has not been determined yet.
The Red Flash had four shots on goal before the stoppage of play.
Claire Miko (Medina, Ohio/Medina) had her first two shots of the game for Saint Francis blocked by the Wagner defense.
Rhiallie Jessell (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) registered the first shot of the game for the Red Flash which was wide left, then Jessell attempted another shot that was a header rejected by Wagner goaltender Sam Hughes in the 11th minute. This scoring chance proved to be the last opportunity the Red Flash had due to the game being stopped because of inclement weather.
The Red Flash will come back home to Loretto to face the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Sunday, September 26th. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
