LORETTO, Pa. – The honors keep on coming in from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for the Saint Francis University field hockey team. The Red Flash were one of 79 NCAA Division I teams to earn the NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award.
"Once again the academic success of our team and individual student-athletes is evident. We were excited to place the most student-athletes on the NEC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll of all teams at SFU regardless of team size. Additionally, we would like to recognize that eighty percent of our team achieved the NEC Academic Honor Roll. While the list of academic honors may seem repetitive to some, every achievement and success no matter how small should be celebrated. In this case, these student-athletes put incredible effort into their academics requiring sacrifice and discipline. We are proud."
The team posted a 3.60 grade-point average in the fall and had student-athletes named
NFHCA Scholars of Distinction (3.9 GPA or greater) and 22 student-athletes selected to the
NFHCA National Academic Squad (3.3 GPA or greater).
