Savannah Schoonmaker and
Paige Theobald were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the association announced Tuesday.
The six players recognized marks the most in program history, besting the four players who earned the honor last season.
College Sports Communicators (formally CoSIDA) recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
In order to be eligible to earn a CSC Academic All-District selection, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, own a grade point average above 3.50 and must compete in 90 percent of contests or start in at least 66 percent of contests.
Schoonmaker, a Finance major who earned CSC Academic All-District honors last year as well, earned an overall GPA of 4.0. The senior from State College, Pa. started 15 of the 16 matches she played in this season and collected an assist in a 1-0 win against Le Moyne on Senior Day.
Persichetty maintained an overall GPA of 3.77 as a Computer Science major. The accolades continue to pile up for the junior from Staten Island N.Y., who earns her third end of season award. Persichetty was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference for her performance this season. She led the Red Flash in points (11), goals (4) and tied for the team lead in assists with three.
Kendziora, a native of Duncansville, Pa., compiled an overall GPA of 3.98 as an Early Childhood Education major. The junior appeared in all 17 matches this year, starting in 15 of them. She tallied a goal and an assist for the season. Kendziora earns her second consecutive All-District nod in 2023.
Pyle, who is also an Early Childhood Education major, earns All-District honors for a second consecutive year and boasts 3.78 overall GPA. The junior from Lititz, Pa. finished this past season with seven points from two goals and three assists. Pyle's efforts earned her a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.
Miko, a Medina, Ohio. native, compiled an overall GPA of 3.76 as a Nursing major. Miko started all 17 matches for the Red Flash and logged a career-high five points from a goal and three assists.
Theobald earned a 3.97 overall GPA as an Economics and Finance double major. The Tinton Falls, N.J. native started 33 of Saint Francis' 35 matches over the last two seasons, and 45 of the 49 matches she has appeared in during her time in Loretto.
Academic All-District honorees will be evaluated by a CSC sub-committee to determine their candidacy for the Academic All-America ballot. All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
