GENEVA, Oh – Saint Francis had another successful day in the pool as it was
Sara Turner who headlined the team by winning the silver medal in the 200 yard butterfly event.
The Red Flash had four individual swimmers take place in the championship finals,
Sara Turner,
Ava Silva,
Inde Patterson, and
Krysta Weik.
Marija Dodik made it to the consolation finals of the 100-yard backstroke for Saint Francis.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Turner finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.97, which was just .30 seconds shy of the Saint Francis all-time record set by
Jessica Rupp at last year's NEC finals.
Silva made her first career final appearance in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.97 which was good for a seventh-place finish. She made it to the final stage by finishing with a prelim time of 2:07.58.
Patterson made it to the championship round fo rhte second day in a row, this time in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished with a time of 57.06 and a fifth-place finish. She made it to the finals by having a time of 57.26 in the prelims as she bested that time in the finals stage.
Weik swam in her last 100-yard breaststroke final as she recorded a time of 1:04.65. She got to that point with a prelim time of 1:05.01 which she finished with a better time in her last race of the day.
Dodik raced in the consolation round of the 100-yard backstroke and finished with a time of 58.55. She swam her faster time in the prelim earlier in the day with a time of 58.51.
Silva also swam in the consolation stage of the 100-yard butterfly and had a time of 58.71, Ava also swam just a bit quicker in the prelim round with a time of 58.40.
The Red Flash's 400-yard medley relay team finished with a time of 3:53.79 which was good for sixth in the final round. The relay team consisted of
Inde Patterson,
Krysta Weik,
Sara Turner, and
Oksana Horova.
UP NEXT
The Red Flash will just have one more day of NEC competition which will consist of races such as the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and the 1650 yard freestyle event to finish the NEC's. All the races will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
