LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's soccer head coach Sara Butler has announced that she is stepping down from her post to pursue another coaching opportunity.

"We are very appreciative of Sara's efforts during her time at Saint Francis," said Saint Francis Director of Athletics James Downer. "There is no doubt that she was able to elevate many aspects of the program and built a foundation to once again compete for Northeast Conference Championships. Sara is a rising star in the women's soccer coaching profession, and I look forward to following her future success." 

In her two years in Loretto, Butler coached the 2023 Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Year, two All-NEC first-team selections, three All-NEC second-team honorees, and two NEC All-Rookie team players. During her first season, the Red Flash advanced to the NEC Tournament for the first time since the 2018 season.

A national search for the 12th head coach in women's soccer history will begin immediately.
