OPENING PITCH
The Red Flash hold a 6-4-1 all-time record in the series, outscoring the Bonnies 16–12 since the first matchup in 2005. Saint Francis has performed well in Loretto with a 3-1-1 record at home and will look to continue its success when the two teams meet again at Stokes Soccerplex.
THE WORD ON THE BONNIES
St. Bonaventure enters Thursday's matchup still searching for its first win of the 2025 campaign after a pair of narrow 3-2 defeats to Niagara and Bucknell to open the season. Last fall, they finished 6-8-3 overall, earning notable wins over Davidson, La Salle, and Bucknell while posting a 3-3-2 mark at home.
LAST TIME WE MET
Saint Francis kicked off the 2024 season in dominant fashion with a 3-0 victory at St. Bonaventure on August 22, 2024. Joschi Schelb netted two goals, including a brilliant free kick, while Fabian Wagner added a header. Rodrigo Mendes and Alex De Nittis contributed assists, and Niclas Becker posted a clean sheet with four saves. The Red Flash controlled the match, outshooting the Bonnies 13-7.

Next up, Saint Francis heads to College Park for a tough matchup against Maryland on Monday at 7:00 p.m. The Red Flash will then return home to Loretto on Thursday, for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with Robert Morris before hitting the road for contests at Loyola Maryland (September 9) and Duquesne (September 17).

Saint Francis men's soccer opened its 2025 campaign on the road against Xavier, falling 3–0 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs on Thursday. Freshman Thero Mitchell III led the Red Flash offense with three shots on goal in his collegiate debut. Goalkeeper Braeden Sorensen recorded six saves.

PRESEASON POLL
Saint Francis men's soccer was picked fifth in the NEC Preseason Poll. Mercyhurst, which won the NEC regular season, and LIU, which won the NEC Tournament, have been selected as co-preseason favorites after LIU earned three first-place votes and Mercyhurst garnered five. FDU picked up the remaining two top votes, while Le Moyne, Saint Francis, Stonehill, New Haven, Howard, Chicago State, and CCSU rounded out the poll. Mercyhurst and New Haven are both ineligible for the postseason.
INTERNATIONAL FLARE
Head coach Mads Kaiser has nine players that have come from outside the United States: Volkan Celikkol (Turkey), Alex De Nittis(Germany), Harry Elmore (England), Alejandro Escobar (Columbia), Diego Garciarena (Paraguay), Álvaro Planas (Spain), Julian Quiroga(Bolivia), Harvey Skurek (England), Mika Wernicke (Germany) and Jonah Wolf (Germany).
ABOUT THE COACH
Mads Kaiser begins his third season as the Red Flash men's soccer head coach. In his first season, Saint Francis was the only NCAA Division I team to finish undefeated with a 7-0-8 record and won the NEC regular season. Saint Francis is 14-7-10 overall and 10-2-3 in NEC play. The Red Flash hosted an NEC Semifinals Game in his first two years. He was an assistant in Loretto for two seasons prior to his elevation as head coach.
