McKibben, Maros de Carvalho, Flick earn all-region honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 8, 2010) – Postseason honors continue to roll in for members of the Northeast Conference Champion Saint Francis University women's soccer team. This time, three Red Flash student-athletes have been named to 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru NCAA Division I Women All-Northeast Region teams.

Sophomore forward Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) received first-team honors, while freshman forward Barbara Maros de Carvalho (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Sagrado Coraco de Jesus) (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Sagrado Caraco de Jesus) and junior midfielder Traci Flick (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) were named to the second and third teams, respectively.

"All three players are very deserving of this recognition," said Red Flash head coach Brenda van Stralen. "Tesa, Barb and Traci all worked extremely hard the entire season to accomplish their goals and that showed throughout the season."

NEC Player of the Year McKibben wrapped up her first full collegiate season with 39 points, which ranked seventh in the country and were the second-most in a season in program history. Her 15 goals were the ninth-most in NCAA Division I and, with 101 shots, she blew by the previous school record for shots in a season (77).

Maros de Carvalho splashed onto the collegiate soccer scene posting 11 assists – the 20th most in the country this season. The NEC Rookie of the Year also scored five goals in her first go-around with the Red Flash and was the only freshman named to the first or second All-Region teams.

An All-NEC first team selection this season, Flick served up two goals and three assists over the course of the year. A starter in 20 of her 21 games played last season, Flick is the only current two-time all-conference selection on the Red Flash roster.
